Willingham Digital LLC ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Helm Link mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.
Information We Don't Collect
Helm Link is designed to operate without collecting personal information:
- No Account Required: You don't need to create an account, provide an email address, or enter any personal information to use the App.
- No Voice Recording: We do not record, store, or transmit your voice conversations. All audio is transmitted directly between devices on your local network and is never sent to external servers.
- No Location Data: We do not access or track your location.
How the App Works
Helm Link operates entirely on your local Wi-Fi network:
- Voice communication is peer-to-peer between devices on the same network
- All audio is encrypted using WebRTC's built-in DTLS/SRTP encryption
- No data leaves your local network
Permissions We Request
The App requests the following device permissions to function:
- Microphone: Required to capture your voice for communication with others in the room.
- Local Network Access: Required to discover and connect to other devices running Helm Link on your Wi-Fi network.
- Background Audio (iOS): Allows voice chat to continue when the App is in the background.
- Notifications (Android): Used to show a notification when voice chat is active in the background.
Data Security
All voice communications are encrypted using industry-standard WebRTC encryption (DTLS for signaling and SRTP for media). Optional room join codes provide an additional layer of access control. Since no data leaves your local network, your conversations remain private to your network.
